Audeara #ChangingMindsets for Hearing Health

Did you know 4 million Australians are living with some form of hearing loss?

Hearing loss can have an impact not only on your mental health but everyday activities we all take for granted - including being able to work and study, enjoying music and listening to the TV.

Due to the impact hearing loss can have, many people affected find themselves withdrawing from being social with family and friends and feeling isolated.

We understand the psychological toll hearing loss can have on you and your family, which is why significant days like World Hearing Day (3 March) and Hearing Awareness Week (1 - 7 March) are important to bring light to this largely preventable illness (Better Health Channel 2012)

This Hearing Awareness Week we wanted to send a strong message about how important your hearing health is, and how we shouldn’t take it for granted.

With accompanying vibrant sounds from local Brisbane DJ, Manson, we invited the Brisbane community together to feel connected through music and have the opportunity to experience Auracast technology.

Beyond the DJ vibes, it was great to see our team and local businesses coming  together to talk about their hearing health. We’re all about #ChangingMindsets when it comes to hearing health.

Dr Ian O’Brien, Audeara’s Research Audiologist spoke about the importance of ‘staying connected’ through annual hearing checks and how implementing small changes in your life can make a big impact on your overall wellbeing.

“When protecting your hearing health - always be prepared. Carry a set of earplugs with you. If you like seeing live bands get some earplugs you can take with you on the go.”

“Know that if you are exposed to moderate sound levels over a long period, that can be as dangerous as being exposed to high sound levels over a short period. So keep an eye out on sound levels wherever you go,” said Dr Ian.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this year in support of World Hearing Day during Hearing Awareness Week. It was a wonderful opportunity to chat, dance, connect and experience Auracast technology!
